Multi-State Concealed Carry Course (VA/UT/FL*)

Innovative Defensive Solutions, llc (IDS), offers a multi-state (Florida, Utah, Virginia) 4-hour Concealed Carry Course of classroom instruction that qualifies you to carry a concealed handgun in 35 out of the 35 eligible states depending on your preference of application submittals.  You may apply to all three states for a permit, any combination of states or just one.  The choice is yours. **Florida now requires a live fire component for their permit, that is NOT part of this course. We can however, schedule you to come and meet us at the range for the shooting portion, however, fees apply!

The completion certificate issued following the class permits you to begin the application process for a Virginia, resident or non-resident, concealed handgun permit (CHP).  If you are a VA Resident you will need to apply for the VA permit first before applying for the Utah permit. If you are a MD or DC resident you may apply right away for the Utah Non-Resident permit. Utah applications are submitted to the Utah Department of Public Safety for a 5-year non-resident concealed firearm permit (CFP) for a fee of $65.

(Note: A copy of the Virginia CHP must accompany the Utah application.) For residents that live in states that have formal reciprocity with Utah, i.e. VA. **NOT MD or DC

Application for a 7- year permit to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services requires a fee of $50.

(Note: Military and retired law enforcement personnel may qualify by submitting other acceptable paperwork in lieu of the affidavit.)

The course covers concealed carry laws, as well as, safety procedures and firearm handling techniques.  Complimentary fingerprints will be taken and must be included with your Utah application. We will handle your Utah Fingerprints, however your Florida Prints must be taken by a LEO. Fingerprints are only required in VA if you are applying for a Non-Resident permit. These prints are must be done by a Law Enforcement Agency like the Florida Fingerprint Cards. Click here for a Non-Resident VA Application Checklist.

Instruction is provided by certified Utah CFP instructors and certified NRA training counselors/NRA Instructors.  The classroom is normally held at a local hotel in the Fairfax/Chantilly, VA Area.  SEE BELOW FOR THE SPECIFIC LOCATION INFO FOR THIS SPECIFIC COURSE DATE!

Please arrive 30 minutes before the class start time. This class is 4-5 hours in length, but extra time should be set aside before and after to complete the fingerprints and notary services. These services will not occur during the course of instruction.

If you are applying for a VA Resident OR Non Resident Permit please click here to download the application. You will need to bring this with you to the course filled out so that we can notarize the application for you. Please use Black Ink and write neatly and clearly to avoid the county/state/city from rejecting your application.

Our Mission

IDS focuses on teaching intuitive defensive handgun skills that lend themselves to efficiently handling a firearm in ways that are congruent with the body’s natural reactions under stress. This methodology allows us to better prepare our students for situations where drawing a firearm is a possibility.
